Sport Fishing Slip
‘Em a SquidSquid rank high on the list of forage species preferred
by game fish around the world, but anglers often opt for other baits
that are quicker and easier to rig. Now you can rig one of these slippery
mollusks in a matter of seconds with The Squid Rig from B&L Designs.The
stainless-steel frame slips inside the squid to hold the 7/0 Mustad
hook in position, eliminating the need for threading and sewing leaders.
On-the-water testing shows the Squid Rig tracks well when trolled at
3 to 5 knots, attracting dolphin, wahoo, tuna and sailfish.Northeastern
anglers are catching stripers and bluefish on the rig, while West Coast
fisherman report excellent results jigging for lingcod and trolling
for albacore, salmon and halibut. The small rig fits squid up to 6 inches;
the medium size works in 7- to 12-inch squid. Squid Rigs retail individually
for about $12, or in combo packs (containing one of each size) for about
$18. For more information, contact B&L Designs, 3706 N. Ocean Blvd.,
